A Touring Company Built Around the Artist and Their Team

Platinum Road's services are not limited to placing one individual on one tour.

The company can build and oversee a tour crew based on the artist, production, budget and specific requirements of the tour. This may include providing an experienced Tour Manager, Production Manager, Stage Manager, security professionals or other touring personnel while Platinum Road continues to provide leadership, operational oversight and support to management.

Platinum Road can also support an existing tour crew.

An artist or manager may already have someone they know and trust who would benefit from additional experience or senior guidance as the tour grows. Platinum Road can provide systems, consulting and oversight while allowing that established touring relationship to remain in place.

The objective is to give each artist the right people, systems and level of support for their touring operation.

Rooted in Music and Active in Touring Today

While much of Platinum Road’s most recent work has been in comedy touring, the company’s roots are firmly established in music.

Recent tours have included some of the biggest names in comedy.  This work has kept Platinum Road active in major theatre, arena and international touring, with responsibilities involving personnel, advancing, production, travel, security, budgets, vendors, schedules and show settlement.

That recent work builds upon a music touring career that began in the late 1990s and over three decades of experience working with artists, tour crews, promoters and venues.

Platinum Road values its work in comedy, while music remains an important part of the company’s history, experience and future.

Decades of Experience in Touring and Production

The experience behind Platinum Road spans more than three decades in live entertainment and includes Tour Management, Road Management, Production Management, Promoter Representative work, stagehand experience, venue production leadership and national touring operations.

During the mid-1990s, Dave gained early international production experience as part of the stage crew at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. He began touring professionally in the late 1990s and moved into Tour Management in 2000. His early music touring credits include The Monkees, They Might Be Giants, Melissa Etheridge, Barry Manilow, Jay-Z, the Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter, Vicente Fernández and others.

His experience extends well beyond the road. Dave worked in Production Management and Promoter Representative roles throughout Southern California for Avalon Attractions, Clear Channel Entertainment and Live Nation.

He later served as Production Manager of North America Touring for Live Nation in a position created specifically for him, working directly with and for the company’s COO of North America Touring.

Dave also served as Director of Production for The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, where he advanced and oversaw more than 300 shows involving a broad range of major touring artists. These included iconic shows and engagements with Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bob Dylan, Steely Dan, Peter Frampton, Mudcrutch featuring Tom Petty and many others.

Earlier in his career, Dave worked as a Local One IATSE stagehand on productions throughout New York City, including shows at Madison Square Garden, Roseland Ballroom, Manhattan Center, Randall’s Island and Battery Park, as well as the iconic Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball Drop.

Platinum Road brings the knowledge developed from every side of those experiences to the artists, managers and touring productions it supports today.

Experience From Every Side of Live Entertainment

Platinum Road understands what artists and tour crews require because Dave’s experience spans nearly every side of the live entertainment business.

Dave has worked on the road with artists, managed touring and local production, been a touring and local promoter representative, worked as a stagehand, led production inside venues and provided high-level support to Production Managers, touring and local promoter representatives, promoters and major tours from within one of the largest concert companies in the world.

That background provides an understanding of:

  • What artists and management need from a road team

  • What Tour Managers and Production Managers need from promoters and venues

  • What promoters are contractually and operationally responsible for providing

  • How labor, vendors and local production affect schedules and budgets

  • How venues prepare for and execute touring productions

  • How tour crews, local departments and management must communicate

  • How decisions made before a tour begins affect the daily operation on the road

  • How to make quantifiable savings and locate revenue opportunities that have a measurable impact on the bottom line

This perspective allows Platinum Road to anticipate issues, communicate effectively with everyone involved and build touring operations that are practical, accountable and prepared.

Extensive Music Production Management and Promoter Representative Experience

Platinum Road’s music experience extends far beyond the artists Dave has personally managed or traveled with.

Throughout his career, Dave has worked in Production Management and Promoter Representative capacities on thousands of shows and productions involving artists across rock, pop, country, Latin, jazz, hip-hop, R&B, soul, adult contemporary, alternative, electronic music and other areas of live entertainment.

This breadth of experience gives Platinum Road a thorough understanding of how touring productions, promoters, venues, local vendors and show personnel must work together.
